Sooooo… my sweet little ladybug turned one on July 29th and her Grammy (her mom’s mom) threw her a Ms. Rachel themed party. It was EXTRAVAGANT, to say the least. Now, I’ve had the experience of doing too much for a one-year-old’s birthday party. My grandbaby’s dad. We had Cookie Monster, a clown, etc. and it was NOTHING in comparison to Ladybug’s party yesterday.
NOTHING.
He hated it. Doesn’t remember it (surprise, surprise). And it was totally unnecessary.
We tried to explain that we didn’t need to do a big party, but it happened anyway and WOAH. It was bigger and more elaborate than I even imagined it would be.
I will say, it was beautifully decorated and a lot for the kids to do. There was face painting and balloon animals, a water slide, amazing swag bags for the guests. Food was DELICIOUS, there were “adult beverages” too. Nothing was left out when it comes to thinking of all the things to cater to the adults and children who came to celebrate our baby girl.
It was just A LOT. Like thousands and thousands of dollars’ worth of a lot.
…BUT… I won’t begrudge baby girl’s Grammy the pleasure of celebrating my Ladybug. She was honored like a princess, and I love that for her. Whether *I* thought the party was too much or not, one thing is crystal clear: our girl is loved beyond measure and that’s worth more than ten times what her grandparents spent on that extravagant party. Seeing all the folks that came out to celebrate and surround her with love made it an absolutely beautiful day.
So I’ll say… THANK YOU, GRAMMY AND GRAMPY. For loving our girl so much and being the most amazing grandparents she could hope for. I appreciate you and I’m so happy to be in the grandparents circle with you.
